Alumbra AB specializes in salt bath dip-brazing, a method for brazing aluminium assemblies, and in producing high-tech prototypes of mechanical components. Combined with a small unit for surface treatment and for complementary assembly work, we have the resources to in-house produce complex mechanical units from start to end with short lead-time.
We are situated in Järfälla outside Stockholm, Sweden and have customers from all over Europe.

Salt-Bath Dip Brazing brings many advantages in quality and cost saving
* Short leadtimes
* Flexible production of prototypes
* Low production cost

The photograph shows the identical product made by dip brazing and by casting.
Salt-bath dip brazing is a versatile and effective method for brazing aluminium and aluminium alloys of the AlMgSi type. Brazing produces high strength and can be applied to thin materials without significant deformation. The method is suitable for series production of both simple and complex components and is ideal for producing prototypes.
Alumbra has more than 30 years experience of Salt Bath Dip Brazing and is today one of Europe's leading companies within this area. In the last few years the use of Salt Bath Dip Brazing has expanded extensively and the method is nowadays frequently used for telecom and other microwave industry as well as in the traditional defence area.
Technical Data
Materials
Examples of brazable alloys: Brazability is limited by alloy composition.
Pure aluminium Recommended max. contents:
SS 4104 AA6063 Mg 1.5 %
SS 4212 AA6082 Mn 1.5 %
AA 6061 AA6060 Cu 0.5 %
AA 6351 Si 1.5 %
Zn 6.5 %
Filler material
The brazing alloy used corresponds to AA 4047, AMS 41858 and AWS BAlSi-4.
Composition Al - 12% Si. Melting range 575-582 ºC.
The alloy has good corrosion resistance.
Strength
To achieve full strength in the base material, a heat treatment process must be carried out after brazing. The brazing alloy cannot be hardened and is not significantly affected by heat treatment. The breaking strength of the brazing alloy is 100-110 N/mm2.
